GUIDE ON THE PROCESS OF WATERPROOFING THE BATHROOM/SHOWER BASE

With many years of experience in the field of screeding – waterproofing, Australiatiler will share with you the method and process of waterproofing for bathrooms/showers with a waterproof membrane.

Waterproofing the toilet with a waterproof membrane is divided into two solutions: using a self-adhesive membrane and using a torch membrane.

– The process of waterproofing the toilet with a self-adhesive membrane

Step 1: Prepare the construction surface (cleaning dirt, filling cracks, concave, …).

Step 2: Apply a layer of Primer adhesive paint (use Bitumen liquid paint).

Step 3: Stick the Bitumen self-adhesive waterproofing membrane.

Step 4: Check the waterproof layer/water test and take over.

– The process of waterproofing the toilet with a hot torch membrane

Step 1: Clean and prepare the surface to be waterproofed.

Step 2: Use a gas torch to heat the floor.

Step 3: Apply bitumen-based Primer to the floor surface.

Step 4: Use a hot torch to burn the surface of the sheet so that the bitumen melts evenly and then sticks to the floor. Note: wherever the liquid melts, roll the film there.

Step 5: After applying the hot torch film, it is necessary to apply a layer of sand cement to the surface to protect the waterproof membrane.

Step 6: Check the waterproof layer/water test and take over.

Porcelain

Porcelain tile is our number one choice for showers because of its diversity, durability, and water resistance. Unlike some other tile materials, porcelain doesn’t have any pores, which prevents the buildup of mildew and soap scum.

You can find porcelain in a variety of styles and colors, and porcelain materials can be found anywhere. Best of all, it’s one of the hardest brick materials available, can withstand heavy impacts, and is aesthetically pleasing.

Because porcelain is one of the premium tile materials, it comes with a heftier price tag. Luckily, we have many alternatives that can save you money and secure your construction budget.

Glazed Ceramic

Ceramic tiles are very porous and made up of many microscopic holes, so water and bacteria easily get in and stay there, even with the most thorough cleaning and cleaning. So, if you find a ceramic tile that you like for your bathroom, make sure it’s glazed. This will seal the porous parts of the tile that are prone to mildew. Prevent bacteria from staying and multiplying.

In addition to being water resistant, glazed ceramics can also make cleaning, and maintenance extremely easy. Glazed ceramics are more resistant to scratches, and they are available in a variety of colors and styles for you to choose from.

Glass

Glass tiles are a great way to turn your shower into a one-of-a-kind work of art. While glass tiles are just as durable and water-resistant as glazed ceramic, they also provide a modern look thanks to their transparency.

When you choose glass tiles for your shower, you don’t have as diverse a selection as with ceramic tiles. While some glass tiles can be colored or come with small designs, they are typically transparent. This creates the illusion of a larger space, which is why so many homeowners choose glass.

Terrazzo

Because this is a line of tiles specialized for tiling floors, walls of toilets, and bathrooms, it brings comfort, youthfulness, and dynamism to the space. With a variety of colors and impressive designs, you can find this tile at Stone & Tiles Project.

Depending on the preferences and purposes of the homeowner, you can flexibly use a combination of many types of tiles in the bathroom, for example, a combination of marble and glass to bring elegance to the room.
